School!

Last night I found a link on Wonderbaby to the Hadley School for the Blind where they offer courses to blind people and their families for free! I was amazed and immediately signed up for a course called Learning Through Play. It's basically the same type of thing as I'm taking in my ECE training but for blind children, I couldn't be more excited. I hope they approve my application. I think our family will benefit from it as a whole, especially Skyler, the more I can learn about how to teach him and how to facilitate play for him the better! Now for what everyone has been waiting for, some pictures!

His new thing now is walking. He'll hold onto my hands and just walk, he's so amazing. I can't believe he can do that already especially since he's only 5 months adjusted.

Thanks for stopping by to see how Skyler's doing! Make sure to leave a comment! Don't be shy.

Water Baby

The last few days have been rather sleep deprived. One of them wasn't Skyler's fault though. He's been going down to bed very well. A bath with mom and some milk and he's off to dreamland from about 8:30 until 1 or 2am. Then he wakes up and wants his milk again. Usually he will go back to sleep, but the last few days his teeth or something have been bothering him and he's been deciding to stay up a few hours longer than usual.

He's fast asleep in the swing now taking his afternoon nap. We went for a swim in my dad's pool the other day. Skyler enjoyed it after adjusting to the temperature. The rest of us had a great time too, and if the weather wasn't so yucky looking today we'd be over there right now. Last night in the bath tub Skyler figured out how to splash all on his own and spent the entire bath splashing the two of us. He accidentally got himself in the face a bunch of times. He definitely needs his bath tonight though. I gave him an arrowroot cookie and he managed to get bits of it all over himself. I cleaned up most of it with a washcloth but there are still some little crusties I couldn't get with the cloth.

As soon as I get some pics uploaded to the new laptop I'll post some pics of him. He just gets cuter and cuter every day.

7 Months!

I figured it was high time Skyler has his own blog, where we can share updates about Skyler with family and friends. So here it is. Welcome everyone.

Skyler just turned 7 months on the 19th of June, and weighed in at 12 pounds 15 ounces and measured 62cm long. He's almost able to sit up entirely unassisted now. He can go for a good 5 minutes without tipping over if no one is holding him, and when I sit him in my lap he can sit there for quite a while without me helping him in any way. He's great at standing up straight and has super strong legs. He loves to kick me if I let him sleep in our bed. (Most of the time I don't because I get kicked up against the wall!)

His new favourite thing is bathtime with mommy every night before bed. He loves to splash and kick and "swim" in the tub, and it cools him off and washes away all the sweat and stickiness from the day. After his bath he has some milk and he's pretty much off to dreamland without a complaint.

He's basically sleeping through the night now except for his midnight feeds and last time he decided to wake up at 4 am and have a rousing conversation with me and daddy. He does that sometimes. After he was done talking, laughing, yelling and drooling in our hair he decided it was back to bed time and passed right back out. Crazy kid. He's definitely ours.

It's hard to believe my little tiny baby is actually seven months already. The time really does fly by. It's hard to imagine that in five months he will be a year old. I know it seems like I'm getting ahead of myself but the time has passed by so fast already I know that if I blink I'll miss it and he'll be all grown up. Anyway he and daddy are in dreamland and it's time for mommy to have some "me time" so I'll post more later. :P
